Vacancy – SUPPORT WORKER
The successful applicant will:
- Support clients with their issues—advising and signposting to other services where needed
- Assist at Memory Café
- Work alongside our ‘Support Team’
- Provide support to clients recently discharged from hospital/care
The applicant will need to be able to listen, be flexible, creative, and supportive.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide advice and support to clients
DIMENSIONS
- Maintaining client call list, providing regular contact/visits
- Maintaining accurate written records, ensure client database holds up to date records and information
- Assistance with form filling, benefits advice, debt problems
- Acting as advocate for clients
- Assistance with re-housing
- Shopping, prescription delivery
- Identifying and supporting family carers
- Providing practical and emotional support
- Identifying needs, referrals needed to other agencies
- Providing an ‘unofficial’ bridge between statutory services and client
- Liaise with Manager at all times
- Work as part of a support team
KEY RESULT AREAS
- The provision of practical help, advice and support to clients
- The provision of accurate and timely records
COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The post-holder will communicate and work with:
- Manager
- Assistant Manager
- All other staff
- Volunteers
- Clients
- General Practitioners and Primary Health Care Staff
- Staff of Statutory Agencies
- Staff of Registered Social Landlords
- Independent agencies
- Local community
Support and training will be provided .

PAY/HOURS/LOCATION ETC
Job Title: Support Worker
Terms: 16 hours/week plus 6 hours on-call
Location: Some home working is possible
Salary: £10.75 per hour
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to work unsupervised
- Knowledge and experience of the principles of confidentiality
- The ability to work as part of a team

Vacancy – TRANSPORT & EVENTS CO-ORDINATOR
The successful applicant will:
- Arrange with the volunteers the picking up and taking of clients to medical and other health appointments across Dartmouth, Totnes, Torbay.
- Co-ordinate charity events such as the annual fete
Training and guidance provided—28 days paid holiday pro rata
DIMENSIONS
- Maintaining contact with volunteer drivers and feeding back their comments to the manager
- Maintaining accurate written records, ensure client database holds up to date records and information
- Speaking to clients and volunteer drivers, ensuring clear and accurate communication when booking journeys
- Identifying issues with the system, number of drivers, level of demand, etc.
- Liaising with the manager and trustees when co-ordinating events such as the fete and fashion show
- Liaise with Manager at all times
- Work as part of the Dartmouth Caring team
PAY/HOURS/LOCATION ETC
Job Title: Transport & Events Co-ordinator
Terms: 12 hours per week to be worked flexibly—Mon-Fri. Can fit in around school times and other part time work.
Location: Some home working is possible
Salary: £10.75 per hour
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- An understanding of people’s needs and the input required to assist.
- Awareness of risk management and safeguarding.
- Totally discreet with an understanding of confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and unsupervised.
- Good organisational skills.
- An understanding of good practice in relation to a voluntary service.
- A friendly and professional manner.
- Computer literate.
