We have produced a Health and Social Care Directory, and hope that it will become a blueprint for similar charities across the country.
It is an idea which fully embraces the ideas put forward by Prime Minister David Cameron about a ‘Big Society’; members of the community creatively looking to help and support the most vulnerable.
Dartmouth is a beautiful, and some would say idyllic place to live, but behind the stunning front is a town struggling to come to terms with its ageing population and large proportion of residents surviving on low incomes. Dartmouth Caring is in the front line as a support provider for vulnerable adults – be they elderly or suffering other health issues.
The directory is designed to give information and control back to those in Dartmouth, and the surrounding rural villages, who feel most bewildered by the demands and problems they face.
Listed in the pages are details for all contacts relating to healthcare, social services, retirement homes and sheltered accommodation in the South Hams area. Also included are council contacts for services and telephone numbers for companies who can help with basic issues around the home and elsewhere.
